Strasbourg, where we get underway, is old and charming, close enough to Germany to reflect its influence. We spend the first nite there, paint in the city the next day and board the boat in time for dinner. On the last day, we’ll debark after breakfast, travel back to the hotel in Strasbourg and have a last opportunity to sketch and photograph in the city before our Farewell Gathering…dinner is on your own so you can have a last adventure! Then in the morning after breakfast, you’ll head back to Paris on the high speed train in time to catch your flight. Registration closes Sept 2017…Make sure you are “On Board!” We will have the boat to ourselves except for the crew…en route, we pick where to stop and paint and how long to stay…they feed and transport us, and make the beds! ! This is a perfect trip for a non painting companion…laze around on board or wander the area with the painters, join up for lunch..there are also bicycles available on board so you can get around easily!
Your first and last nites in Strasbourg are included plus everything for our 6 nites on board: Dinner on boarding; Breakfast when disembarking; En-suite baths in all cabins; fabulous meals in the dining area (wine and beer with lunch and dinner;) an open bar (except champagne!) all port charges and round trip transfers from the airport and hotel. Sketch & lounge under umbrellas on the main deck…(there’s a hot tub so bring a bathing suit) or on the sundeck up top! We can move the furniture around! to suit us and if we are on shore for the day, there will always be a lunch plan!
Airfare is not part of the price, but we will be glad to book your flights for you so we can board our train together both coming and going. Train tickets are included in your price…
Once we are a GO, and you’re registered, we’ll send you every bit of info you’ll need to make this easy…Do pack LIGHT!! It’s OUR boat so no fancy dress needed on board…we will have medium and solvents for you…more on all that later! Non-painters are most welcome to join us at a reduced rate..it will be a great trip whether you just relax, explore or paint! The price is set per person/double occupancy; if a single room is an absolute necessity, please contact us re: the price…
So…that’s all about the boat…now, all about Larry! This painting could be a French canal scene!!
A man of many skills, Larry’s work ranges from realism, to atmospheric to the fully abstract…his brushwork is lyrical and loose, tight where it needs to be and he brings a reflective, discerning witty eye to every subject he paints. As fine an instructor as he is a painter, with great sense of humor,
Larry brings challenge, support, information, attention and fun to every class.! A visual adventurer, a painter who pushes boundaries, he is perfect to have on a barge trip. He’ll show you things you didn’t see at first glance but won’t ever miss again! Larry is a pleasure to travel with and a wonderful instructor. Be prepared to learn, and laugh!
Larry Moore is an accomplished artist and instructor who brings a wealth of knowledge and creative problem-solving tools to the classroom, from his 35 years as a nationally recognized illustrator (Gold Medalist, Society of Illustrators, New York), and his 20 years as an instructor: (Illustration, Critical Thinking, The Visual Language, Color Theory, Finding Your Voice, Abstraction from Nature, Plein air classes galore and a variety of studio-based classes). He has worked extensively in every medium: watercolor, gouache, acrylics, pastel and his personal favorite, oil so he can help you no matter what you bring. Larry has spent 35 years as a Plein air painter and published articles in American Artist Workshop magazine, Plein Air Magazine, American Art Collector, Pastel Magazine and Create Magazine. He has honed his communication skills to express solutions in an understandable and digestible way so that you go home with tools to create on your own and be your own best critic. Larry has worked hard on developing practical color systems, methods and thought processes to both speed up the creative process and skirt the mental speed bumps we all have. He will demo in oil but can help you with whatever medium you choose to bring to the class.
